- protecting our natural environment, particularly our water.

Our businesses, whether they are in manufacturing, farming or on the high street need an MP who will champion them at a national level. Local people should have access to the skills, training and support they need to get on, and see their families and communities get on as well.

Untreated sewage was discharged into the river Lavant for 273 days in 2023. Tom cannot stand to see the beautiful environment he grew up around abused this way and knows that local people are sick of promises of change when nothing happens. Only Labour is promising to prosecute water bosses who repeatedly break the rules and Tom is behind this completely.

Tom said “Chichester has been represented by the Conservatives for a long, long time and yet – while we are all proud of our beautiful city, rural and coastal communities– it’s hard to say things are getting better. But it’s not enough to want to change, we need a plan and a party that actually has the ability to execute a plan for change in government.

"Only Labour can offer this. Only Labour is serious about the economy, the environment and public services. I hope the people of Chichester choose me to fight for our businesses, our people, and our environment under the next government.”

Phil White, acting Chair of Chichester Labour Party, added: “I share Tom’s vision and passion for positive change -both in our constituency and the wider country. I’m really impressed by his political experience, his integrity and his commitment to support everyone in our community. Together with our other Labour candidates standing along the south coast – the ‘Red Sea Wall’ – Tom is giving Chichester residents the opportunity to reimagine the country we all want to live in. I think he’ll make an excellent MP.”
