Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride 2024: organisers thank entertainers and martial artists

Organisers from The Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride 2024 have thanked the entertainers who took part.

The community event was held on Sunday, May 19, in The Broadway and there was plenty of fun for families who did not wish to cycle.

Chairman of the Bike Ride Team Mike Oliver, who organised the entertainment, said: "Between 9am and 10am we had the following organised by Elizabeth Wickenden of Family Grapevine:

“Matt Fiddes Martial Arts display led by Senior Instructor Michael Wain. Matt Fiddes' Team Mid Sussex display was white belt Mighty Matts up to blue stripe, juniors and adults. The display included hand drills, kickboxing drills and 7 and 10 kick combinations.”

Mike said there was a performance by Walkhouse School of Dance. He said: “Primary Ballet performed ‘You’ve got a Friend in Me’ with the help of Ava and Hollie, their class assistants. This class are aged 4-5 years and have their lessons on a Saturday morning at the Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill. Emma, Amelie, Rosie and Naomi performed a modern dance to ‘You’ve got a Friend in Me’. These students are Grade 6 Modern and aged 13–14 years.”

He said the Grade 4 Modern group, aged between 10-13 years, danced to ‘We go Together’ from Grease.

Mike continued: “Some of these dances are part of the Walkhouse School of Dance showcase, which will be taking place in June and are all dances choreographed by Michelle Walkhouse.”

Then from 11am to 2pm audiences were treated to Cylvian Flynn, Mike Rebeiro and Mike Oliver’s own band Phony Walkman (’80s music) who took turns performing as the riders arrived back.
