A woman was pulled from the sea in Peacehaven following a multi-agency emergency operation.

Police, the ambulance service, lifeboat crews and air ambulance scrambled to the scene of the incident on Tuesday evening (July 28).

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Emergency services responded to a report of a woman who had been pulled from the sea off South Coast Road, Peacehaven, at about 6pm on Tuesday (July 28).

“The woman was initially treated by paramedics at the scene and was then taken by ambulance in a serious condition to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.”

Brighton RNLI was launched shortly after 6pm.

A spokesman said: “The lifeboat arrived on scene and quickly located the casualty who was taken ashore by our volunteers to the coastguard and paramedic teams and transported to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.”

South East Coast Ambulance Service has been approached for a comment.
