Police investigate report of suspicious man in Newhaven

Sussex Police say they were called to an address in Western Road at around 1.25pm where a resident told officers a man had knocked on the front door and asked if their dog had gone missing. The resident said the man then claimed he knew which school the resident’s child goes to.
The suspect has been described as tanned, around 35-years-old, 5’5” and of slim build. He is reported to have been wearing a light blue t-shirt and dark trousers.

Hide AdOfficers carried out an extensive search of the area and spoke to local witnesses, but did not find anyone matching the suspect’s description.
The school has been notified.
