Person taken to hospital and RNLI called following Eastbourne ‘challenge’ injury

The RNLI said the incident happened on Saturday, August 13, at around 8pm.
An RNLI spokesperson explained that it was requested to launch the all weather lifeboat to assist the inshore lifeboat due to reports of a person who injured their ankle while taking part in the challenge.

Hide AdAn RNLI spokesperson said: “Once on scene the casualty was transferred from the inshore lifeboat to the all weather lifeboat where the casualty was taken back to Sovereign Harbour before being transported to hospital.”
A representative from the event said: “It is always unfortunate if someone suffers an injury on our Lighthouse Challenge, and we always field a large team of over forty [staff] including St. John Ambulance and with the addition of the RNLI on standby just in case of [an] accident. It is therefore gratifying that all our precautions led to a successful outcome on this case”
