‘Protect our green spaces in Billingshurst and beyond from development’
I should like to thank the County Times for its recent report on the concerns the residents of Broomfield Drive and Maple Road have that our local green spaces have been sold for development.
With the loss already of so much of our green fields and spaces for development and the probable loss of considerably more, we need to protect what we can, not just for ourselves, but for our children and grandchildren.

Hide AdThe UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world but with no end to population growth in sight, pressure on wildlife and natural resources will continue to grow.
The politicians pretend to be green and concerned for the environment and then encourage developers to concrete over our beautiful countryside.
In spite of what celebrity chefs might want people to believe, we cannot feed ourselves with half our food already imported, primarily from the EU, but also from North and South America, Africa and Asia.
Every new house this country builds on agricultural land is less land to produce food and every green space lost is less land to benefit the health and wellbeing of both people and wildlife.
