Parking was never a problem
These were positioned roughly from Rye Goldsmiths to Ashbees, and from the George Hotel to Holland and Barrett.
Every Thursday, 3 small artic lorries delivered in the town. One delivered flour and sugar to Webbs Bakery, opposite the Town Hall. Flour and sugar was also delivered to Rye Bakery (now a Health Food Shop). The third artic delivered to the International Stores (now Edinburgh Woollen Mill). In addition to this a large pantechnicon delivered shoes to Freeman Hardy and Willis (now Poppy’s). Everything went like clockwork on that day and others because we had 2 traffic wardens.
