LETTER: Vote will make no difference

Well he would say that - would he not? Since the Haywards Heath Town Council has no Planning Authority he misses the point completely as there is no choice whatsoever since it is only the Mid Sussex District Council that decides on Planning Applications already.
One cannot recall a single pre-Referendum Application of any significance that has been refused or ultimately allowed upon appeal in and around our town.

Hide AdThe Middy confirms the Rookery Farm proposed development has risen further from 30 units initially to an interim 130units and now again to 300 housing units - all within a matter of weeks.
Will we ever be told:
How many polling cards were sent out?
How many of our townsfolk actually voted in the Referendum-indicating both for, and against?
What proportion of those eligible to vote that figure represents?
Will the vote signify the various postal districts around Haywards Heath?

Hide AdIt will be self-evident that a small turn out can only confirm that whatever we vote will not make a scrap of difference to the final outcome. Paradoxically, the same would be true if there was a large turn out! The word Demockery sadly could come easily to mind.
