Guides sing in sign language

The members of the group performed a series of songs they had learned in sign language as a highlight of a special party. Eight of the Brownies and one young leader went on to make their promise enrolment in sign language to seal the success of the evening. It featured activities such as coin art, a name the teddy bear competition, a raffle and a quiz trail of finger-spelling alphabet words. The occasion for family, friends and other girlguiding individuals raised 125 towards a new listening bus for the National Deaf Children's Society. The Brownies' commitment to helping deaf people forms part of Girlguiding UK's challenge to change the world. This is an ambitious nationwide community action project, with 19 charities, with which every girl guide is invited to get involved. The project forms part of the run-up to the centenary of Girlguiding UK this September. Each of the charities has a goal linked to the challenge. The girls pick one which they are passionate about.
