Thieves who stole a number of beer barrels from outside a pub in Bognor Regis have been asked to 'do the right thing and bring them back'.

Staff at The Royal Oak were redecorating the cellar on Friday evening (June 26), in preparation for the pub's reopening this weekend, when opportunist thieves 'helped themselves' to ten barrels.

Jan Cattermole, owner of the 'Pink Pub' in Chichester Road, said: "The barrels were stacked up outside waiting for collection.

"We had to pay a deposit on them so we've lost more money. We've been closed for three months and we've now lost more money.

"They're no good to anybody because they're tagged. I don't know what they're using them for."

Jan said she didn't know exactly how much the theft would cost the pub but said it was money 'we don't need to lose at this time'.

When asked what her message would be to the thieves, she said: "Just do the right thing and bring them back."
